About the team
HR Options has been an operating HR and employment services firm since 1990. Every article on this site is written and reviewed by practitioners who do this work for our clients every day — payroll specialists, HR consultants, and cross-border employment advisors.
Articles are drafted by senior members of our HR consulting, payroll, and Employer of Record teams — the same people who handle client engagements. We publish under a team byline rather than individual authorship because most posts draw on cross-functional experience: a piece on Records of Employment, for example, is grounded in what our Canadian payroll and HR operations teams actually file every week.
Every article is reviewed by at least one HR Options practitioner with direct client experience in the topic before publication. We update posts when the underlying law, tax code, or program eligibility changes — H-1B rules, state leave laws, provincial employment standards, and CRA/IRS reporting requirements are the most frequently revisited. Posts are dated with both original publication and, where relevant, last updated.
Our blog is not legal advice. We describe how the systems we work with actually operate — employment classifications, payroll filings, leave programs, EOR mechanics — so you can have an informed conversation with counsel or with us. For an engagement, our practitioners can review your specific situation.
